McLaren driver Jenson Button hoping for a wet race at Silverstone – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is hoping for rain on Sunday, July 10, 2011 during the British Grand Prix, because he believes the wet race could be his best chance for a victory.
He is sure that his car will work well in the wet, as it did in the Canadian Grand Prix. The team driver won the race in Montreal after making a lot of struggle following the heavy rain. Button admitted that his car was very supportive during the closing
laps and that the new Pirelli tyres provided him a comfortable run on the wet track.
For the upcoming British Grand Prix, the Brit is hoping for rain, as he believes he can perform strongly on the grid in the wet.
Button mentioned, “Sorry guys but if it rains it is not so good for fans sitting out in it, but for us in terms of our pace in the wet and in terms of result, wet weather could be good.”
The 31-year-old driver went on to add, “Whether that is going to be the same when we arrive at Silverstone, as we do have changes to the car and there is a regulation change, I don't know. I hope not. I hope we have made some good improvements. It is going
to be tough to beat the Red Bulls. We always knew that but we won't know how difficult it is until Friday and the practice sessions.”
After his win in the Canadian Grand Prix, McLaren were quite happy, because they believed that their drivers will beat Red Bull Racing in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season. They were expecting another win from Button in the recently held European
Grand Prix.
However, both the drivers Button and Lewis Hamilton were unable to fight with Ferrari and Red Bull at the Valencia Street Circuit due to unsupportive role of their cars.
Let’s see how McLaren and their drivers fare at the upcoming Silverstone Grand Prix which is scheduled to take place this weekend, Sunday, July 10, 2011.
