McLaren driver Jenson Button hoping for better climate in 2012 British GP – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is hoping for better weather conditions in 2012 British Grand Prix which is to be held at Silverstone Circuit on July.
Button said that the Friday practice was highly affected by the rain and almost all the contenders found it very difficult to test their updates.
Although he showed quite an impressive pace during FP2 as he came 6th in the timesheets and seemed comfortable behind the wheel of his updated car MP4-27.  However, he asserted that he could not collect the desired amount of data which was needed
to make the considerable evaluation of the upgrades.
Moreover, it has been forecasted that the same weather conditions may persist throughout this week while the British driver expressed that he is hoping for better climate on the race day so that they may deliver their best.
“It was very tricky out there, there was lots of standing water,” Button said. “You wouldn't want to be racing wheel-to-wheel in those conditions, as you wouldn't see puddles until it was too late. You're travelling at 290km/h and you hit river that gives
you wheelspin at that speed and when that happens your car can snap out of control very easily. When you're driving alone, it's not so bad, because you can pick your way around and lift off whenever necessary, but in race you can't do that. So, I hope there
won't be as much standing water around on Sunday.”
It will be important to mention that some of the drivers were quite contended with the progress which they made during the practice sessions for instance Nico Rosberg of Mercedes said that they successfully gathered some essential information for the assessment
of the updates in W03.
The current season has been quite full of surprises, not only for the teams but for the fans also as there have been seven different winners in the first seven races.
Over and above, it will be very interesting to see how all the contenders perform in the qualifying of the upcoming race and how the season turns up for them.
