McLaren driver Jenson Button hoping for comeback at 2011 German Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is hoping for a good performance at the upcoming 2011 German Grand Prix which is going to take place at the legendary Nurburgring circuit more commonly known as The Ring.
“Perhaps we've lost a bit of the momentum we'd built up in previous races, but not much. Although Silverstone was disappointing, our pace has been good this year. Sometimes we've been quickest, sometimes we haven't,” Button told the media.
McLaren struggled to perform at their home race this past weekend as Jenson Button had to retire out of the race due to a tyre failure while his teammate Lewis Hamilton had a comparatively decent race as he finished in 4th place after starting
from 10th place on the grid.
Nevertheless, this is not what the team was hoping for and since Button secured his first win of the 2011 Formula 1 season at Montreal during the Canadian Grand Prix, it seems that the 2009 Formula 1 world champion’s hopes are a bit too high.
Following the Canadian race though, Button was unable to keep his pace as he finished in 6th place at the European Grand Prix and since then, Ferrari have been performing much better than McLaren.
Red Bull Racing on the other hand have been scoring extremely amazing results as they have secured 6 race wins in just 9 races and they still have a perfect pole position scoring record.
“The arrival of DRS and KERS Hybrid has made the racing very unpredictable, and while that's challenging for us, it's great for the fans, and I think we're going to put on a really exciting show this weekend,” said Button.
However, the British driver claims that the team still has some time to improve and they can still challenge Red Bull and even Ferrari for wins.
The teams will now be able to use the off-throttle blown diffuser starting from the German Grand Prix and it seems that each team’s respective pace is now going to be pretty much the same as it was before the British Grand Prix.
