McLaren driver Jenson Button looking forward to win the Canadian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is really looking forward to win the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix after a third place finish in the recently held Monaco Grand Prix.
Button added that he has not won in North America during his Formula 1 career so far and was really determined to win the race in Montreal in 2011.
The British driver admitted that he is really enjoying his time at McLaren. He feels proud to be a part of the team, as he believes that he has a bright future with them.
The 31-year-old driver is sure he has a perfect car this season. He admitted that the pace of their car, MP4-26 was good during the Spanish and Monaco grand prix.
He discussed the recent Monte Carlo race and mentioned that he was very pleased with his progress in the season, as he recently impressed the team by finishing third in the Monaco GP.
The McLaren driver went on to say, “I’m still very pleased with my performance in Monte Carlo. It wasn’t a win, but it was nice to lead the race and to be able to pull away comfortably when I did. Even if the result didn’t match it, that sort of thing is
always nice to keep at the back of your mind.”
He continued, “I’ve never won in North America and I think we have the pace, the development and the momentum to have a good shot at changing that next weekend.”
Button believes if they put some positive efforts during the qualifying round, they can start the race at the front row and end the Sunday race in a decent manner as well.
The 2009 champion is looking forward to race success in the upcoming Montreal race weekend. Let’s see if he manages to do that when the Formula 1 action goes to North America this weekend, Sunday, June 12, 2011.
