McLaren driver Jenson Button looks forward to work with Honda once again – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is very much looking forward to work with Honda once again after their multi-year deal with the Japanese engine provider
was confirmed on Thursday.
The Working based team has signed an agreement with Honda which will provide them the engines for their cars from 2015 onwards. Button drove for Honda during their
last season in Formula 1 and scored his first ever race victory with them back in 2006 at Hungaroring. Therefore, he is feeling very happy on his team’s agreement with them.
The British driver said that he has always enjoyed working with Honda and shares a very good relationship with them. Besides, he stated that the new regulations
by FIA have provided the Japanese company a very good opportunity to make a strong comeback in the sport as engine provider in the future.
“I've already enjoyed a long and successful working relationship with Honda,” he said. “I first raced a Formula One car powered by a Honda engine in 2003, and I
was a works Honda Formula One driver between 2006 and '08, winning my first grand prix in Hungary in 2006 in a Honda Formula One car, so I know exactly how passionate Honda is about motorsport, and Formula One in particular.”
“The challenge set by Formula One's new technical regulations provides Honda with the perfect opportunity to return to the pinnacle of motorsport,” he added.
The Briton has not been able to attain competitive results with consistency in the season so far because of some reliability issues in his car. At present, he is
standing at 10th place in the drivers’ championship with 17 points. Additionally, he is ahead of his teammate, Sergio Perez and behind his major opponent, Nico Rosberg of Mercedes.
Despite facing immense difficulties in the first five rounds of the season, he is not feeling upset and is positively looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming
races.
It will be exciting to see how he performs in the season ahead and whether the Woking based squad will be able to resolve their reliability issues or not.
