McLaren driver Jenson Button says MP4-27 has not suited him – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that MP4-27 has not suited him and called 2012 as the worst year in his team until now.
Button joined the Woking based squad in 2010 and performed tremendously well in the preceding season in which he came second in the drivers’ championship.
The British driver took an incredible victory in the season opener and the Belgian Grand Prix this year. Moreover, he has secured three podium finishes in the season so far. However, he has not been able to perform well as compared to his rivals and is presently
standing at 6th place in the drivers’ rankings.
It will be important to mention that the British team has faced many reliability issues in the season so far due to which Button and his teammate, Lewis Hamilton have lost some crucial points in the championship fight.
Furthermore, the 32-year-old said that the ongoing season has been the most terrible one for him in his team as he hasn’t attained the desired results.
“This car hasn't suited me as well as McLaren’s last two,” he is quoted as saying in The Guardian.
“Since I've been here this has been the worst year. It's been tricky, even on good weekends. We've had a problem pretty much every weekend, lately. We need to stop it. I don't get it. The car is quite unusual in the way that it works. It works really well
for Lewis, and works really well for me at times. But the consistency isn't there,” he said.
Nevertheless, he said that they are trying their best to keep on making the necessary advancement so as to improve the pace of their car in order to attain competitive results in the remaining two grands prix of the current season.
In addition, he said that he is eagerly looking forward to perform well in the last two rounds to secure a good position in this year’s championship and is hoping to come up stronger in the coming year.
“I'm not happy with where it is at the moment. But hopefully next year will be perfect,” he added.
Let’s see how the 2009 world champion shows up in the last two races.
