McLaren driver Jenson Button says he is happy with Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is pretty happy with the qualifying round results of the 2011 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix.
Button secured the third place for the Budapest race at the Hungaroring race circuit on Saturday, July 30, 2011.
The McLaren driver seemed to be performing poorly from the last couple of races of the 2011 Formula 1 season. However, he made good progress during the qualifying round of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Talking to reporters, the Brit said, “You always, after a lap, think there was a little bit here, a little bit there, but to be fair it was a pretty good lap. I'm happy to be up in third. That's been my issue of late, and it makes it very difficult in the
race to make up the time.”
After getting positive results from the 2011 Budapest qualifiers, Button added that he believes he can fight with their current competitors during Sunday’s race on July 31, 2011 in Hungary.
He went on to say, “We made some good set-up tweaks overnight, and the car felt pretty good this morning and we played with a bit through qualifying and came good on the last run. We gained half a second on the previous lap by getting more front end on the
car.”
Apart from that, Button told the media that he is satisfied with the performance of the new Pirelli tyres at the Hungaroring racetrack.
He admitted that the medium and soft compounds provided him a comfortable run during the qualifying round of the Budapest race.
On the other hand, his teammate Lewis Hamilton said that he is happy with his second place finish in the qualifying round in Hungary. After a positive finish in Budapest, Hamilton is looking forward to a successful race day on Sunday at the Hungaroring race
circuit.
The Woking-based outfit is hoping for satisfactory results from both of their drivers in the Hungarian Grand Prix. Let’s see how they perform over there.
