McLaren driver Jenson Button says he wants to win German Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he wants to win the upcoming German Grand Prix, as he had a great time in his championship year in 2004 in Nürburgring where he finished his race at the fifth place.
Button also mentioned that if he wins a race victory in Nürburgring it will be a major achievement for him in the 2011 Formula 1 season so far, as it is the most challenging racetrack of Formula 1 calendar.
The Brit discussed the Nürburgring race circuit and said, “There are a lot of heavy braking areas and if conditions are tricky, which they often are, you really have to get it right at every corner. The weather can change from moment to moment so you’re
always on your toes.”
The team driver was moving in the right direction before the European Grand Prix. He won his first race in the 2011 Formula 1 season at the Canadian Grand Prix. After that, he could not show a strong performance on the grid.
In the recently held British Grand Prix, he retired from the race due to a pitstop error after completing 39 laps. Button’s race results in Silverstone were disappointing for the team, as they were expecting some positive results from him at the Silverstone
racetrack, but the bad pitstop cost him the race.
After the race, the 31-year-old driver stated that they lost a bit of momentum in the British Grand Prix, which they had built up until the Silverstone race weekend. However, he said McLaren need to improve for the upcoming race weekends. In addition, he
said that they must perform strongly on the grid in the second half of the ongoing season in order to challenge for the 2011 title.
He discussed about the next race weekend and went on to mention, “The arrival of DRS and KERS Hybrid has made the racing very unpredictable, and while that’s challenging for us, it’s great for the fans, and I think we’re going to put on a really exciting
show this weekend.”
The tenth round of the season will take place on July 24, 2011 in Nürburgring. Let’s see how Button performs over there following his disappointing British Grand Prix recently.
