McLaren driver Jenson Button says top running teams are on an even keel – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has recently stated that there is not much difference in terms of pace between the top running teams of the sport that is McLaren, Red Bull Racing Team and Ferrari as a result of which, the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season
is going to be very dramatic.
Since the past three races, Red Bull Racing team has been securing pole positions but winning a race for them seems quite difficult now keeping in mind that Ferrari and McLaren have a much better race pace comparatively.
Even in qualifying, the two teams are closing in on the championship leaders as a result of which, it is believed that the remaining races of the 2011 Formula 1 season are going to be quite difficult for RBR while McLaren and Ferrari might be able to take
the advantage.
“Our race pace was very strong, but I don't think there was much between us, Ferrari and Red Bull. We've won three of the last five races and each of our major rivals has won just one apiece during that time, so we're doing something right,” said Button.
Button recently secured his 2nd race win of the season at the Hungarian Grand Prix this past weekend after which he is now confident about his 2011 run. However, he is 100 points short of the championship leader Sebastian Vettel as a result of
which, his chances of winning the title this year are quite bleak.
However, he still claims that he has a chance of winning the title.
“I'm 100 points behind Sebastian, so that's going to be challenging, but we like a challenge. I never give up, so let's see what happens. I'll take each race as it comes and then look at the points at the end of the year,” said the 2009 Formula 1 world champion.
Lewis Hamilton on the other hand is 88 points adrift of the championship leader in the drivers’ standings as a result of which, he is in a more comfortable position of getting closer to Vettel in terms of points.
