McLaren driver Jenson Button targets second championship title before retirement – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he wants to win his second Formula 1 World Championship before taking retirement from the sport.
Button said that he will try his best to make the right decision about his retirement and will only leave the game when he will be ready for it.
“It's on my mind. In any sport, the trick is to retire at the right time. So many drivers say they look forward to retiring from F1 and they can't wait to live more leisurely life. After four months away from it, they go stir crazy because they miss the
constant buzz,” he said.
Moreover, he said that he is positively looking forward to claim his second title before retiring from F1. He also said that he intends to participate in the second grand prix in his homeland which has been planned to take place in central London.
In addition, he said that the chief executive of F1, Bernie Ecclestone is working on the scheme with the sponsors and he is hoping to see positive results in the future.
“I've still got ambitions within F1. Another championship would be a fantastic achievement," Button told the newspaper. "Also, before I retire, I'd love to compete in a London Grand Prix. Bernie Ecclestone is currently driving the idea forward and Boris
Johnson seems to be in favour of it.”
Presently, the British driver is standing at seventh place in the drivers’ championship and is sharing the position with Romain Grosjean of Lotus. Furthermore, he is ahead of Sergio Perez of Sauber and is just one point behind Nico Rosberg of Mercedes.
Even though, he struggled with the lack of pace and tyre degradation after the Chinese GP. Nevertheless, he made a striking comeback in the German GP and secured an incredible second podium finish after the defending champion, Sebastian Vettel was relegated
to fifth place finish because of his unfair pass.
Over and above, he is unquestionably one of the most competent and talented drivers in the field and it will a great thrill to see his performance after the mid-season break.
