McLaren driver Jenson Button tops final practice session of 2011 Korean Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button topped the final practice session of the 2011 Korean Grand Prix on Saturday, October 15 at the Korea International Circuit.
After FP1 and FP2, all the teams took part in the Practice session 3 and finished their runs on the supersoft and soft tyres by Pirelli.
The Woking-based outfit driver had a good pace in the morning session and put on the decent performance at the Korean racetrack as well.
The Brit set the fastest time of 1 minute and 36.910 seconds ahead of all drivers in Korea. Button improved in terms of pace after the first 23 minutes of the final practice session. After switching to the supersoft tyres, he ended his session in the top
place.
He was closely followed by his teammate Lewis Hamilton, who set the second fastest time in the final practice session of the Korean race weekend with a gap of 0.289 seconds from Button.
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber was unable to perform well at the Korea International Circuit in both the FP1 and FP2, but he was back on the grid in Practice session 3. The Australian claimed third position for the team in the end.
Both of the drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa put Ferrari at the fourth and fifth places respectively in FP3.
After setting the fastest time in FP1, Mercedes GP driver Michael Schumacher was pushed back to the field in FP2. However, after doing his best he ended his final practice session of the 2011 Korean race weekend at the sixth position ahead of Renault’s Vitaly
Petrov.
Petrov was 2.702 seconds slower behind Button in the final practice session timesheets.
Force India driver Adrian Sutil impressed the FP3 by taking eighth place for the team after using supersoft and soft compounds.
The double world champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing finished his FP3 at the ninth position behind Sutil.
On the tenth position was Mercedes GP’s Nico Rosberg, who had a gap of 2.833 seconds behind Button in the final time sheets of FP3.
Let’s see whether Button secures his pole place for Sunday’s race in the qualifying session on October 15 in Korea.
