McLaren driver Jenson Button wins 2011 Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka circuit – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button won the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at the Suzuka circuit.
After the very strong start to the Japanese race weekend, Button finished Sunday’s race on the top position ahead of all drivers.
All the drivers stayed at the Suzuka racetrack until the end of the Grand Prix except Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Buemi. Due to having some car damage after completing 11 laps, he could not complete his race in Japan.
The Woking-based outfit driver Button managed a race victory at the Japanese racetrack for the third time in the 2011 Formula 1 season. He was closely followed by Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, who improved during the Japanese race in a very decent manner.
The Spaniard had a gap of 1.1 seconds from Button and after battling it out with McLaren driver and Red Bull Racing’s Sebastian Vettel, he finished his run at the second position in the end.
Vettel won the 2011 championship after completing the Japanese Grand Prix on the last stair of the podium. Before the 2011 Suzuka race, the German needed only one point in order to win the title. After his third place finish at Suzuka, Vettel has been crowned
the 2011 champion, becoming the youngest-ever driver in the history of the sport to win two back-to-back titles.
Vettel’s teammate Mark Webber tried his best to finish his Japanese race on the podium, but his rivals were faster as compared to him. After starting the race from the sixth position on the opening grid, he ended up in the fourth spot ahead of McLaren’s
Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton came at the fifth place in the final race classifications after struggling for his best possible finish following the puncture and neck-to-neck battle with Ferrari’s Felipe Massa.
Mercedes GP driver Michael Schumacher impressed the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix crowd by taking a sixth position for his team after starting from the eighth position at the Suzuka circuit. His teammate Nico Rosberg also gave satisfactory results to his team
by finishing his Grand Prix at the tenth position after starting from the back of the field.
Massa claimed seventh place for Ferrari at the end of the race at the Japanese racetrack.
Sergio Perez took eighth place for Sauber in Japan, while Renault’s Vitaly Petrov put his team at the ninth position.
