McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton: Abu Dhabi is one of my best races – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that the Abu Dhabi GP win is the one of his best races in his Formula 1 career so far.
Hamilton added that he is very happy to be back up on the grid for the team in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix held on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Yas Marina Circuit.
The Brit managed his third race victory of the 2011 Formula 1 season in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
After qualifying in the second position for the 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Hamilton finished the race at the top position ahead of all drivers.
After managing the race victory in Abu Dhabi, the 2008 world champion hopes he is back to his winning ways following his difficult 2011 Formula 1 season.
Talking to reporters, he commented, “I think it's very rare for us and me to get the opportunity to maintain a gap and control a race. But today I had the pace and was able to put in the laps when Fernande went quicker. And then I was able to pull out when
he came in.”
He went on to mention, “It seemed as if he would start the stint slower than me but get quicker at the end, but I am very, very happy with how it went. I said that as I slowed down: being able to hold off one of the best drivers in the world is tough to
do.”
After the successful race weekend at the Yas Marina Circuit, the 26-year-old driver is aiming to keep his momentum in the last round of the 2011 Formula 1 season, which will take place on November 27 in Brazil.
The team driver further added that they have another great race ahead of them in Brazil, so they will definitely focus on that and try their best to keep the momentum in the last race of the season.
After taking part in 18 rounds of the ongoing season so far, Hamilton is placed at the fifth place ahead of Ferrari’s Felipe Massa with 227 points in the 2011 drivers’ standings.
Let’s see how Hamilton ends his 2011 F1 season following his third race victory of the season in Abu Dhabi.
