McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton confident of good show at Suzuka racetrack – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton seems quite confident and determined at the moment about the upcoming 2011 Japanese Grand Prix at the high-speed Suzuka circuit.
He is all-set to once again enthral his fans with his spectacular racing. Both Hamilton and his teammate Jenson Button are confident of a good show at the Suzuka racetrack.
Speaking about his chances at the next Grand Prix of 2011, Hamilton said, “I think Suzuka will play to my strengths: it’s a track that really requires you to drive in an attacking way to be able to get a good laptime.”
Since Suzuka is a high-speed track, the McLarens are hopeful that it should turn out to be a reasonably good circuit for their MP4-26. The Woking-based team has not been able to perform to their optimal and are hopeful that the next few races will fare better
for the team.
Although the weather of Japan would still be a major concern for most of the teams as the far-east Asian region is known for its unpredictable climatic condition particularly during this part of the year.
The McLarens however are not so worried about the weather conditions at the moment as they are pretty confident that they can still set the Suzuka track on fire. Hamilton said, “I’ll take any conditions as long as I can race hard.”
The 26-year-old believes that even though Red Bull have a clear lead on the drivers’ and constructors’ standings, McLaren are still very optimistic about their chances of outperforming the Red Bull team as in the last few races the Working-based outfit has
shown that it has the pace to challenge the current number one.
Hamilton said, “I think we're headed there in pretty good shape: we know that the Red Bulls will be strong - but we also have a very quick car, and we can make it work on different kinds of circuit.”
The McLaren team currently sits at 2nd position in the constructors’ championship and with five races still remaining until this season ends, let’s see whether the team manages to make it’s way to the top or not.
