McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton expecting strong show in 2011 Singapore Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton is expecting a strong show in the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix, which will start from September 23, 2011 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Hamilton said that he loves to drive on street circuits and that he is sure he will really enjoy the Singapore race this weekend.
The Brit talked to the media and added that despite his current form in the 2011 Formula 1 season, he is still pushing his team for a good result at the Marina Bay Street Circuit this weekend.
Talking to reporters, Hamilton said, “You’ve got to keep it precise through these and just be patient, waiting for the tyres to bite before getting on the throttle. If you’re impatient, then you end up losing time because you over-stress the tyres and you
over-drive the car.”
The team driver went on to mention, “I think we had a car capable of winning in both Belgium and Italy, so I really want to make sure we arrive in Singapore with a good set-up, and that we’re able to run with it through practice and qualifying. If it all
goes to plan, we should be in good shape on Sunday.”
With regards to Hamilton’s performance in the 2011 Italian Grand Prix, the 26-year-old driver had a very close fight with Mercedes GP driver Michael Schumacher during the race and after struggling with his MP4-26 car, he ended his race at the fourth place.
The Woking-based outfit driver took a very strong start to the Italian race weekend, as he successfully secured a second position for the raceday in the qualifying round. After starting from the second place on the opening grid, Hamilton finished his race
at the Monza racetrack with a gap of 17.4 seconds from the race winner Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel.
After the Italian race weekend, the McLaren driver is placed at the fifth place with 158 points in the 2011 drivers’ championship.
Hamilton stated that he will try to show his best possible performance in the 2011 Singapore race weekend.
