McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton feels unfortunate after 2012 German Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton is feeling unfortunate after 2012 German Grand Prix because of a puncture and said that he struggled with the problem in rear wing which caused his retirement.
Hamilton could not score even single point in the German GP as he lost some crucial time during the start due to his tyre puncture. Moreover, he faced an issue in the rear wing of his car and was eventually retired after 56 laps.
The British driver said that although he had a good start in the last race, however, he suffered with some difficulties due to which he could not pocket any points.
“My second-lap puncture was incredibly unfortunate: there was debris scattered across the full width of the track and I didn't have any option other than to drive straight through it,” he said. “What's more frustrating is that, at the time, I was the eighth
car through - so to be the one to get the puncture is just cruel luck.”
“It was immediately clear that my car didn't feel the same after the puncture. However, with the damage to the rear, I think we were lucky to get that far, to be honest,” he added.
Additionally, he said that he is not upset over his poor result in the preceding race and is looking forward to fight back in the Hungarian GP.
On the other hand, his teammate, Jenson Button successfully limited that damage for his team and delivered an amazing performance at Hockenheimring. Button secured an inspiring second podium finish after the defending champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull
Racing was penalised and relegated to fifth position because of his illegal overtaking.
At present, the 2008 world champion is standing at fifth place in the drivers’ championship with 92 points. In addition, he is ahead of Nico Rosberg of Mercedes and is behind Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus.
Meanwhile, the British team is at third place in the constructors’ rankings with 160 points. Furthermore, they are ahead of Lotus and are behind their main rival, Ferrari.
Besides, it will be exciting to see how they show up in the forthcoming races.
