McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton happy with current driving style – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he is happy with his current driving style and that is what makes him different from the rest of the drivers on the grid.
“I love the way I race. While it will catch me out every now and then, it is what got me the World Championship. It is what has got me here. People tend to forget that it is what got me to the front. If I wasn't able to race the way I race, I wouldn't be
known for who I am today,” said Hamilton.
The 2008 Formula 1 world champion was highly criticised for his aggressive driving since the past couple of races as he collided with Pastor Maldonado at the Monaco Grand Prix for which he was given a drive through penalty.
After that at the Canadian Grand Prix, Lewis collided with his teammate Jenson Button but since Button’s car was not damaged much, he was able to continue the race and luckily won it in the end. Hamilton on the other hand, retired out of the race as a result
of which he has not been able to cope up with the current championship leader Sebastian Vettel.
“If there was no overtaking, there would be no things to question. Now there is more and more overtaking. You are doing 20 manoeuvres over a period of races and, of course, a couple of those are going to be questionable. But if you step back, you learn from
it and you try not to do the same again,” said the former world champion.
It was believed at first that Lewis Hamilton might make a move to Red Bull Racing in 2012 since Mark Webber is on a year-to-year contract with the team and it is believed that he might stay at the team for another year since he has not been able to compete
as well as his teammate. None of these rumours have been confirmed yet but Hamilton stated that if his team keeps providing him with a competitive car, then there is no reason for him to change his team.
