McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton is raring to have  a go at the 2012 season – Formula 1 news
Lewis Hamilton insists that he is eagerly waiting to start the 2012 season.
He said that the time he got has been very refreshing for him, but he cannot wait to get back into the cockpit. Hamilton had a torrid 2011 season as he faced both on-track and off-track issues which caused the Brit to go through one of his worst season performances
ever.
“The winter has been a great opportunity to recharge,” Hamilton said.
Hamilton admitted that the 2011 season had been a poor one for him and that he hopes to recover from it. He said that all the issues related to his personal life that affected his performances are mostly sorted out. It was evident from the way he finished
the season that he was coming back to his own as he won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in the final stages of the season.
Jenson Button his teammate and countryman had an impressive year and both have conceded that they have a productive rivalry going on and the competitiveness is only going to help the team get even better results.
Hamilton talked about the newly unveiled MP4-27 and said that it the base is similar to last year and it was a strong one.
“I've been keenly following the development of MP4-27 over the winter and I've been really encouraged by the results,” he said. “Of course, the biggest changes for 2012 are the modifications to the exhaust regulations - that will reduce the downforce and
grip that we had last year, but it just puts the emphasis on the designers to try and claw some of that back in other areas. I get the feeling the MP4-27 is going to feel very new and exciting when we get to drive it for the first time.”
It will be interesting to see how Hamilton fares in 2012 as he is definitely considered amongst the leading contenders to take the title from Sebastian Vettel.
It might be a tougher task than he expects as Button has been performing very well for the past two years and it would hard to stop his momentum into 2012.
