McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton says they must make improvements in MP4-27 – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that they must make the necessary improvements in their car MP4-27 so as to fight for 2012 Formula 1 World Championship title.
Hamilton struggled with his car in the British Grand Prix held at Silverstone Circuit as he could only secure 8th place finish after setting off from the same position in the grid.
On the other hand, his teammate, Jenson Button could not make his way into the second session of the qualifying and secured 10th place finish in the race.
At present, the Woking based team is standing at fourth position in the constructors’ championship with 142 points. Moreover, they are just 2 points behind Lotus and 44 points ahead of Mercedes.
Meanwhile, the 2008 world champion is at fourth place in the drivers’ rankings with 92 points and is 37 points behind the leading driver, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari. Additionally, he is ahead of Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus and behind the defending champion,
Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing.
Despite facing issues in the last race, the British driver is keeping his hopes alive and thinks that they are still in the championship fight. However, he said that they really need to push hard to make some crucial progress in order to make their position
stronger in the season ahead.
“We are still in fight but unless we find something it is going to be hard to stay in fight,” he said. “I raced my heart out as always but we just struggled, we did not have enough speed in general. I wish we could have done better at my home grand prix
but others have clearly made another step forward so it was real tough race. We have a lot of time to find from somewhere, we need a lot of downforce from somewhere. I don't know where guys can find that but I really pray that they can find it."
Over and above, he has been one of the most consistent drivers in the season so far and is surely one of the most favourite contenders in the championship battle. Let’s see how he competes in the forthcoming races.
