McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton secures pole for 2011 Korean Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has secured the pole place for the 2011 Korean Grand Prix in qualifying round 3 on October 15, 2011 at the Korea International Circuit.
After all the three Practice sessions of the 2011 Korean race weekend, all the teams participated in Qualifiers and finished their round by using the sets of supersoft and soft tyres by Pirelli.
The Woking-based outfit driver, Hamilton set the fastest time of 1 minute and 35.820 seconds during Q3 in dry conditions and secured a pole place for Sunday’s race as well. After his decent performance at the Korea International Circuit in FP2, the Brit
put his team at the front of the grid at the end of Q3.
He was closely followed by the double world champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing, who secured a second position in Q3 for the 2011 Korean Grand Prix, which will take place on Sunday, October 16 at the Korean racetrack.
McLaren’s Jenson Button, who was at the top position in FP3, has dropped down his position in Q3. The team driver will start the Korean Grand Prix from the third position on the opening grid.
Red Bull Racing’s second driver managed to secure fourth place for Sunday’s race after running on the soft and supersoft tyres during Q3.
Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso will start their Korean race weekend from the fifth and sixth places on the grid respectively.
Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg was 1.934 seconds off the pace of Hamilton in the final Q3 time sheets. After doing his best, he secured a seventh position for the Korean Grand Prix.
Vitaly Petrov of Renault managed his eighth position for Sunday’s race after running at the Korea International Circuit. He had a gap of 2.304 seconds from Hamilton and after putting all of his efforts, he ended his Q3 ahead of Paul di Resta of Force India,
who will start the race from the ninth position on Sunday.
Di Resta’s teammate Adrian Sutil successfully secured tenth position for the Korean Grand Prix after using Pirelli tyres during Q3.
Let’s see whether Hamilton manages a race victory at the Korean racetrack on Sunday following his very strong qualifying round.
