McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton sets fastest time in Free Practice 1 of Hungarian GP – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time in the Free Practice 1 of the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring circuit on Friday, July 29, 2011 in Budapest.
The McLaren driver finished marginally ahead of Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel in the morning practice session.
Hamilton took a strong start in the Hungarian race weekend following his race victory in the 2011 German Grand Prix. He finished his morning Friday practice session with a fastest time of 1 minute and 23.350 seconds on the grid. The Brit completed 19 laps
at the Hungaroring racetrack after struggling on the medium and soft tyres.
Red Bull Racing driver Vettel was almost 0.2 seconds slower than him and ended up at the second place. He was closely followed by the Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, who was 0.292 seconds off the pace of Hamilton.
In the fourth place was Mark Webber, who successfully finished his Friday Practice run on the Hungarian grid ahead of McLaren’s Jenson Button, putting the team on the fifth place after completing 20 laps.
Alonso’s teammate Felipe Massa set the sixth fastest time of the Friday Practice session at the Hungaroring race circuit.
Mercedes GP drivers Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher had a trouble-free time in the morning session, where both of them finished their practice run at the seventh and eighth places respectively.
Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi were ninth and eleventh respectively representing Sauber while, Renault’s Vitaly Petrov ended his morning practice run in the tenth spot.
GP2 series driver Bruno Senna took part in the morning Friday Free Practice session in place of Renault’s Nick Heidfeld. He successfully completed 25 laps in Heidfeld’s R31 car and ended his practice run at the 15th place for Renault.
Paul di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg claimed 12th and 13th places for Force India-Mercedes.
Virgin Racing Team drivers, Timo Glock and Jerome d’Ambrosio completed installation laps at the Hungaroring race circuit in the morning session.
After a successful time in the morning Friday Free Practice session in Hungary, all the 2011 Formula 1 teams are ready to participate in the afternoon practice session of the Hungarian Grand Prix which will take place later on Friday, July 29, 2011.
