McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton thinks 2011 Formula 1 season is going to be exciting
Lewis Hamilton recently had a detailed interview online and it seems that he is pretty excited about the 2011 Formula 1 season as he believes that his team, McLaren, have a strong car this year.
He stated that since movable rear wings and the Kinetic Energy Recovery System will be reintroduced in the upcoming season, it is going to be interesting to see how the teams use both of these devices and it would definitely make thinks more interesting.
“We love speed so I don't think it will be more dangerous. The teams work hard to make it safe. I have no doubt they will increase overtaking, but I haven't even gone out with KERS this year so I don't know how it feels. Having the rear wing and the KERS
together is going to be amazing,” he said.
When asked about his future plans in Formula 1, the young British stated that he has not planned his future as he believes that a person should take every day as it comes and he is not sure whether he would race in Formula 1 in the future or not.
Other than that, he enjoyed the car development process with his team during the winters as he believes that it always gets different and more interesting each year.
“Every driver has a different approach, but I love to see how it's developing. The amount of work and ideas is just phenomenal. I always think the guys in the wind tunnel have such a cool job. I spend a lot of time with the aerodynamicists and am always
asking questions of them,” said Lewis.
He tries his best to participate in the team’s car development activities and he loves going to the wind tunnel where the team develops its car.
The 2011 Formula 1 season is going to be a groundbreaking season in Formula 1 history as this is going to be the first time that 20 grands prix will take place in a single season. With the reintroduction of the KERS and movable rear wings, more overtaking
is expected and the upcoming season is going to be even more unpredictable than the 2010 Formula 1 season.
Lewis Hamilton finished in 4th place in the drivers’ standings in 2010 and ran for the drivers’ title until the very last race of the season.
It is expected that McLaren, Ferrari, Red Bull Racing Team and Mercedes are going to be the top contenders for the titles but one can never be sure of what Formula 1 has in store for the future.
McLaren are quite confident about the upcoming season but only time will tell whether they are as good as they believe they are right now or not.
