McLaren driver Sergio Perez believes he raced fairly in Monaco – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Sergio Perez has claimed that he has raced fairly in the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix despite facing immense criticism from some of his opponents.
Perez performed quite convincingly in the qualifying at Circuit de Monaco in Monte Carlo and managed to secure 7th grid slot for the race. Even though, he showed some remarkable moves on the race day. However, unfortunately he had a collision with Kimi Raikkonen
of Lotus because of which he failed to finish his race and remained unable to score even a single point.
After the preceding race, Raikkonen criticised the Mexican driver’s move to overtake him for fourth place and asserted that the 23-year-old should be punched in the face. However, Perez has ignored all the criticism and has said that he raced hard and reasonably.
Furthermore, he said that he was just looking forward to gain positions like any other driver so as to score competitive points for his team.
“There may not be much to show from Monaco, but it was another positive race for me, we had stronger pace throughout the weekend, and I felt that I raced hard and fairly, earning my positions the hard way by competing for, and winning, them on the track,”
Perez said.
Besides, he said that he is positively aiming to perform well in the Canadian GP where he secured an incredible third podium finish during the last season. He also said that they are trying to make some essential developments in car in order to compete well
with their rivals in the forthcoming race.
“There are plenty of positives to take forward to Canada. It's a race I enjoy, I finished on the podium there last year; and I feel like team is bringing performance to car at every race. Although we're still not where we need to be, I hope Montreal weekend
will be another step,” he added.
At present, he is standing at 12th position in the drivers’ championship with 12 points. Additionally, he is behind his main competitor, Adrian Sutil of Force India and ahead of Daniel Ricciardo of Toro Rosso. Let’s see how he performs at Circuit Gilles
Villeneuve on June, 2013.
