McLaren driver Sergio Perez hopes to attain good result in the Hungarian GP – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Sergio Perez has said that he is hoping to attain good result in the 2013 Hungarian Grand Prix with an improved car despite facing immense problems in the season until now.
Perez and his teammate, Jenson Button, have not been able to score competitive points with consistency because of some huge reliability issues in the season until now. However, the Mexican driver has stated that they have made some significant developments
in their car so as to improve its pace for this weekend’s race and are positively looking forward to score good points.
The 23-year-old successfully made his way into the third qualifying session at the Hungaroring and managed to secure 9th grid slot. Although, he said that he faced few problems in the first session, he felt quite comfortable behind the wheel of
his car in the second session. He expressed that they have tried their best to enhance the pace of their car, so he is feeling quite hopeful that he will be able to get good points in the race.
“At the beginning of Q1, I still felt a little bit uncomfortable with the car, which is why I only just made it through to Q2,” he said. “However, my Q2 lap was quite good - we'd made a lot of changes to the car overnight - so I'm hopeful that we may have
a better car for the race than we've had for some time.
“Given our pace, we knew we weren't going to qualify in the top five, we opted to run the prime in Q3. We'll be the first car starting on primes, so I think we're in a reasonable position for tomorrow,” he added.
On the other hand, Button could only secure 13th grid position for the race and was a little bit upset over his qualifying performance. Nonetheless, the British driver asserted that he will try his best to get some points for his team.
Currently, the Woking based squad are standing at 6th place in the constructors’ championship. It will be exciting to see how they perform in the approaching races.
