McLaren found the solution for Jenson Button’s problems – Formula 1 news
McLaren’s operations director Simon Roberts has said that they have found the solution for the problems of their driver, Jenson Button which have hindered his performance in the last four races.
Button has only been able to score 2 points in the last four races as he has been seen struggling with the car’s setup and the tyre management. Moreover, he could not make his way into the final session of the qualifying in the last three grands prix.
Nevertheless, Roberts said that they have tried their best to resolve the issues of the British driver and are hopeful that he will come up strong in the European GP which is to be held at Valencia Street Circuit in Spain on June 24.
“I think Canada was very interesting because fundamentally we run the same car for both drivers and they both have the same parts available,” Roberts said. “We're pretty sure at the moment that there was nothing untoward with Jenson's car and actually nothing
fundamentally wrong with the set-up, but in the subtlety of these cars at the moment there are differences, and I think going in to Valencia we're quite optimistic that - having identified that - I think we can have a slightly different way of getting Jenson's
car under him for qualifying and for the race.”
The 2009 world champion is apparently one of the most favourite drivers in this season. He is presently at 8th position in the drivers’ championship with 45 points. Additionally, he is ahead of Sergio Perez of Sauber and behind Romain Grosjean
of Lotus with 8 points.
He delivered a striking performance in the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia after setting off from second place in the grid. Later, in the third race at Shanghai International Circuit in China, he secured an incredible second podium
finish after starting from fifth grid position.
Although, he has been facing huge difficulties with finding his true pace in the preceding few races and felt quite disappointed on his uncompetitive performances.
Nonetheless, he is positively looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming races so as to make his position stronger in this year’s championship fight.
