McLaren hoping for DRS to make the 2011 Italian Grand Prix more interesting – Formula 1 news
The two McLaren drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton are expecting some added excitement due to the Drag Reduction System for the 2011 Italian Grand Prix.
“The first zone's going to be interesting because it's always been very tough to challenge for position under braking for Ascari - the track's pretty narrow and it's a fast entry - so I'll be really interested to see how well DRS will work into that corner
- we might see some pretty spectacular moves,” said Button.
Hamilton is also excited about the upcoming race weekend at Monza and he claims that he is more ‘optimistic’ since the team is looking pretty strong now.
“I'm particularly looking forward to qualifying, because I think DRS will make a huge difference to our laptimes, and I really want to get the maximum out of the car in quali - and then look forward to a strong race, of course,” said the 2008 Formula 1 champion.

Hamilton had to retire out of the Belgian Grand Prix after he crashed into Kamui Kobayashi’s car in the early laps of the race. It was a very disappointing race for the young British driver and it sort of defined his championship run for the rest of the
2011 Formula 1 season as well.
With just 7 races left in the remainder of this year’s season,  both of the McLaren drivers are not looking so good in terms of points as they are more than 100 points adrift of the current championship leader Sebastian Vettel and catching up with him is
not going to be easy anymore.
DRS was introduced in the 2011 Formula 1 season in order to make the sport more exciting and interesting by setting specific DRS points for each circuit respectively. The drivers are only allowed to use DRS at those specified points after which they have
to reset the settings of their rear wing’s angle.
