McLaren not disheartened after yet another disappointing Formula 1 season – Formula 1 news
McLaren’s managing director Jonathan Neale has recently stated that the team is not disheartened after a disappointing 2011 Formula 1 season.
“Of course we'd like to be where Sebastian Vettel is at the moment, and hats off to Adrian (Newey) and the team in terms of not only the raw pace in the car but the consistency that they've found this year. Obviously we look to ourselves to do a better job;
we're not satisfied with coming runners-up, and we look very much to the next six races ahead to continue winning races,” he said.
He added that Formula 1 is about slick execution which the team is lacking as a result of which they have made some changes in order to achieve their goals in the future.
“We have strength in the team, we've made some changes internally, but Formula One is about innovation and slick execution,” said the McLaren managing director.
The team struggled to cope up with the rest of the teams in the 2009 Formula 1 season alongside Ferrari as Red Bull Racing and BrawnGP dominated the season with their sheer pace and consistency.
2010 was much better for McLaren though since they were able to challenge for both the constructors’ and drivers’ championships until the very end of the season. However, it was quite disappointing for them as they were quite close to the 2010 champions
in both of the standings but due to consistency issues, McLaren were not able to defeat RBR.
This year on the other hand, there are still 6 races left in the season and Sebastian Vettel has already locked his championship in the drivers’ standings while the constructors’ championship is out of McLaren’s reach.
In order to defeat them, McLaren need to pull off some miracles as they have not been able to produce a good consistent car this year compared to the RB7.
