McLaren planning to bring more updates for 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh has said that they are planning to bring further updates in their MP4-26 car for the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix, which will begin from July 29, 2011.
Whitmarsh also mentioned that after wining the German Grand Prix recently, the team will have to concentrate on its own act and make more improvements in terms of performance in the upcoming race weekends of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
The team driver Lewis Hamilton showed an excellent performance in the Nürburgring race weekend, where he won his second race victory of the ongoing season. After the race, the McLaren team principal added that it was a great success for them in the season
so far at the German race circuit.
Talking to reporters, Whitmarsh said, “We have to just concentrate on our own act and improve our performance, improve our reliability and improve everything that we do. That is all you can do. If that turns out to be good enough to win races then that will
be great.”
The team principal further said that after winning the race in Nürburgring, they can hope to win the 2011 championship.
Apart from that, Whitmarsh mentioned that he is happy with their current drivers’ line-up of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, so they do not need to pay a lot of attention to the outside world.
He added, “We are tough on ourselves, and we don't like not winning. I think all that stuff that I enjoyed two weeks ago – remember that at that point we were second in the world championship, more than 50 points ahead of Ferrari, and ahead of some pretty
good teams.”
The Woking-based outfit believes they will do better in the remainder of the ongoing season following a very strong performance in Germany.
The McLaren team principal stated that he is sure Red Bull and Ferrari will be stronger in the next race weekend, but his team will have to just focus on its own performance in Hungary.
Let’s see how McLaren manage their race this weekend following a race victory in Nürburgring.
