McLaren prepare to introduce double-DRS in 2012 Belgian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren sporting director, Sam Michael has said that they are preparing to come up with their double-DRS in the 2012 Belgian Grand Prix which is to be held at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.
Lotus technical director, James Allison has also said that they are planning to launch their double-DRS in the race ahead so as to get a competitive advantage over other rivals.
On the other hand, Michael has asserted that the design of the DRS on which they are currently working is completely novel and is different as compared to the Enstone based team, however, he said that they are considering their design also.  
“It’s not like the Lotus one, but we are studying such a system,” McLaren’s sporting director Sam Michael was quoted as saying.
It will be important to mention that a Brazilian correspondent, Livio Oricchio has said that the Woking based team has plans to test double-DRS at the track of the next race.
In addition, McLaren driver, Lewis Hamilton has said it is very hard to project anything about the approaching races as the nature of the current season has been quite unpredictable.
“I think it’s still difficult to predict accurately who’ll win the next grand prix, but I reckon the coming few weeks ought to give us a much clearer idea of the destination of the world title,” the McLaren driver said last Friday.
Besides, he said that although they struggled in few race during the first half of the season, nevertheless, they still managed to perform exceptionally well in the last two races. Additionally, he said that he is feeling very much confident about the season
ahead while he said that the championship battle is still on.
Over and above, he said that they are aiming to catch up the leading driver, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who is presently leading the drivers’ standings with 164 points and has a tremendous lead over the other contenders.
“There’s no team with a clear advantage, although we’re all pushing hard to catch Fernando (Alonso) in the drivers’ championship, so there’s still everything to play for,” the Briton added.
