McLaren ready to come up stronger with the updates in 2012 German GP – Formula 1 news
McLaren technical director, Paddy Lowe has said that they are ready to come up with some major updates in MP4-27 in 2012 German GP after struggling in the last two grands prix.
Lowe insisted that they didn’t face any major issues which hindered the performance of the team in the preceding few races and said that they just need to work on finding the right setup for their car in order to strike back in the season ahead.
“You don't look at it and say 'okay, the car is a disaster in terms of its fundamentals,” said Lowe. “It was once again a story how do you get the most out if it all the time? The car was very strong on full wets over the weekend, so if you didn't have good
downforce you couldn't instantly create that performance. It's a matter of the consistency that we're struggling with.”
It will be interesting to note here that McLaren pair of drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, has struggled in the last few races with the lack of pace due to the problem of tyre management and aerodynamic issues.
Button has only been able to score 5 points in the previous two races while Hamilton has only scored 4 points. Nonetheless, both the drivers are focussing to attain better results in the approaching races and are confidently looking forward to perform well
in the next race which is to be held at Hockenheimring on July 22.
Meanwhile, Lowe asserted that they are trying their best to keep on making the essential advancements to enhance the pace of their car for the upcoming race to fight for this year’s championship title.
“We have a big programme of upgrades for those two races,” he said. “It will be very hectic, because everybody's gearing up for that push before the break.”
Presently, the Woking based team is standing at fourth position in the constructors’ championship with 142 points. Besides, they are 44 points ahead of Mercedes and just 2 points behind Lotus.
Over and above, they have planned to launch some major updates concerning the aerodynamics of their car in the race ahead and are expecting to achieve good results. Let’s see how they perform in the season ahead.
