McLaren ready to come up with new jacking system in the British GP – Formula 1 news
McLaren sporting director Sam Michael has said that they are ready to come up with the new pit stop jacking system in the British Grand Prix which is to be held at Silverstone Circuit on July 8.
Lewis Hamilton of McLaren lost some crucial time in the European GP as the team struggled with a mechanical issue in the swivel jack during the pit stop. Nevertheless, Michael asserted that they are not going to compromise on any kind of issue and said that
they have already planned to launch a new jacking system in the approaching race.
Moreover, he said that they faced problem not because the operators lacked in their abilities but because of equipment failure. Nonetheless, he said that they have found the necessary solution for the issue and they are positively looking forward to perform
well in the forthcoming race.
“We identified why that failed and design has been modified for Silverstone,” he said. “On Monday this week, we completed 800 pit stops on jacking systems with no faults at all with new design. We believe that we have solved it, but at least we have done
good due diligence on new design for Silverstone. If we go there and have fault we can go back and say that we have done as we could, what we do in engineering.”
Furthermore, he said that their main aim is to deliver consistent performances in the approaching races in order to make their position stronger in this year’s championship fight.
“Just to be clear, our target is consistency and our target is not to have the fastest stationary time,” he said.
Presently, they are standing at second place in the constructors’ championship with 137 points. Besides, they are 39 points behind Red Bull Racing and 11 points ahead of Lotus.
McLaren are surely one of the most favourite contenders in the championship battle. Additionally, they have got the perfect blend of expertise, experience and talent to stand along with the top teams.
Above and beyond, it will be very interesting to see how the season progresses for all the rivals.
