McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh says Lewis Hamilton is very tough – Formula 1 news
McLaren’s team principal Martin Whitmarsh has recently claimed that Lewis Hamilton is very tough and does not get affected much by other’s critique.
“He is a tough cookie who just wants to win. He will very shortly bang in that win and look fantastic. It's a shame it wasn't here, so we'll see if he can do it in two weeks' time,” he said.
The 2008 Formula 1 world champion is being highly criticised for his driving style as he is very aggressive and fast as a result of which he has been crashing out of many races since the past couple of events.
He was competing for the title actively but because of his silly mistakes, he is now out of the title run and so is everyone else on the grid. Sebastian Vettel has secured a very comfortable and dominant lead which will run until the end of the 2011 Formula
1 season.
Recently at the 2011 Italian Grand Prix, Hamilton and Schumacher were engaged in an enthralling competition at Monza as a result of which the McLaren driver was unable to secure a good result and had to settle in for a 4th place
finish just inches behind Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari.
“I'm glad I finished the race. I showed people I can drive cleanly and not get into trouble even if the guy in front makes it very difficult for me. I got by eventually and made it stick, so it was good,” said Hamilton.
It was an extremely disappointing result for the young Brit as he started off from 2nd place on the grid right behind Vettel but unfortunately was unable to keep up with the pace.
Jenson Button on the other hand finished in 2nd place and he has proved that he can secure consistent results compared to Hamilton. However, the main problem with Button is that he is not as determined as Hamilton maybe
since he does not push as hard as he can.
Either way, McLaren really need to settle their problems and enable both of its drivers to perform at their best.
