McLaren to reveal its new car MP4-26 on February 4, 2011
McLaren recently revealed that they will launch their car soon as well but not on February 1st. In fact, McLaren will launch their car on February 4th, 2011. It will be called the MP4-26 and it is expected to be one of the best cars on the grid
in 2011.
Team McLaren Mercedes has been one of the best teams of the 2010 Formula 1 season statistically as the team grabbed 2nd spot in the constructors’ standings behind the 2010 World Champions Red Bull Racing Team. Other than that, both of the McLaren
drivers drove actively for the 2010 drivers’ title as well and it seemed that Lewis Hamilton could have won the title if it weren’t for his own immature mistakes.
However, Lewis fought for the title until the very end but Sebastian Vettel snatched the lead away from Fernando Alonso and took the gold with him, earning his team both drivers’ and constructors’ titles.
McLaren was clearly at their best in the first half of the 2010 Formula 1 season but the 2nd half was rather boring and sloppy for the team. It seems that the team struggled at the Asian circuits while they dominated at the European ones.
Since the 2011 Formula 1 season is not that far, most of the teams including Ferrari have announced that they will reveal their 2011 Formula 1 car at the pre-season test session in Valencia.
Team McLaren usually reveals its car at last and it seems that this year that they do not intend to change their trend.
Red Bull Racing team also announced that they will reveal their new car at the first test session in Valencia. It would be interesting to compare both of these cars at the pre-season test sessions before the 2011 Formula 1 season begins in order to get an
idea what the upcoming season has in store for us.
Until February 4th, the team will use its 2010 chassis. According to some reports, the launch will take place in Berlin.
