McLaren to unveil its car after the Valencia test
Unlike the other two title contenders of 2010 season, Red Bull and Ferrari, McLaren has announced to launch its car after the first test ahead of the 2011 season. The team will use its last year’s package at the forthcoming Valencia test, while the new car
will be used at the second pre-season test, scheduled to begin on 10th of February at Jerez. McLaren has announced the unveiling of its car in Berlin, although no further details of the ceremony are so far revealed.
The team will bring its car on the track on 4th of February, the very next day after the first three-day test session, scheduled to begin on the 1st of February. On the other hand, several other teams like Red Bull and Ferrari have
declared to launch their cars ahead of the first session, and will be carrying all four tests with their new packages.
This year’s pre-season tests are very significant for all the teams, owing to the introduction of the new Pirelli tyres in place of the last season’s Bridgestone. Also, some of the other very crucial changes like the return of KERS and the introduction of
the new adjustable wings make the pre-season testing very important and crucial.
Other than McLaren, Force India has also announced to launch its next season’s car after the first test. Last year, Red Bull and Force India took additional time to prepare their cars, especially the flexible front wing and had to miss the first test session.
While explaining this to the media the McLaren team boss, Martin Whitmarsh said that the team believes to let its car touch the track only after the it is fully satisfied by the development work. Since the next season’s grid is expected to give a very tough
competition, McLaren wants to be fully equipped before jumping into the arena.
After three decades, five world Champions are going to stand head to head, ready to fight for the title. Similarly, all the four top teams, Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes GP are expected to enter the next grid with very competitive cars. It is reckoned
widely that only the team which will be able to secure poles, podiums and wins right from the start of the season, will be able to survive in next this year’s title battle.
