McLaren’s Hamilton sets fastest time in Free Practice 2 of 2011 Korean GP – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time in the Free Practice 2 of the 2011 Korean Grand Prix on October 14 at the Korea International Circuit.
After the FP1, all the teams participated in FP2 and finished their runs in wet conditions. The drivers used the sets of supersoft and soft compounds during the FP2.
The Woking-based outfit driver, Hamilton set the fastest time of 1 minute and 50.828 seconds ahead of all drivers after running on the wet tyres due to damp conditions of the track.
The Brit was closely followed by his teammate Jenson Button, who set the second fastest time in FP2 with a gap of 0.104 seconds from Hamilton.
The double world champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing came at the third position in FP2 with a gap of 1.818 seconds from McLaren’s Hamilton.
Fernando Alonso claimed fourth position for Ferrari in the end of FP2.
Red Bull Racing second driver Mark Webber came at the fifth position in the final FP2 classifications after running in his RB7 car.
On the sixth position was Jaime Alguersuari of Toro Rosso, who had a gap of 2.574 seconds behind Hamilton.
Felipe Massa, who did not set any time in FP1 at the Korea International Circuit, set the seventh fastest time in FP2 after using wet tyres.
Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg was at the eighth place in FP1 again set the eighth fastest time in FP2 at the Korean racetrack.
Sebastien Buemi of Toro Rosso dropped down his position in the FP2. He took ninth place for the team in the end.
Paul di Resta of Force India team came at the tenth position on the final FP2 classifications after running on Pirelli tyres.
The Petronas-sponsored team driver Michael Schumacher topped the FP1, but he could not retain his position in FP2, as his rivals were faster as compared to him. He put his team at the 14th position in the afternoon session.
