McLaren’s Jenson Button: I am pretty happy with what I achieved in 2011 season – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is pretty happy with what he achieved throughout the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Button added that the Woking-based outfit has not been quite good enough to win the championship battle, but they have had a pretty strong year.
The Brit is at the second position at the moment in the drivers’ standings. However, he mentioned that it will be nice to finish the ongoing season in front of some very good drivers.
Button talked to the media and stated that he thinks if they were fighting for the 2011 World Championship, then they would come out on the top position and it would be a special feeling for all the team.
Talking to reporters, the team driver commented, “If I get a chance to beat them of course I will be happy - but we would rather come away with a victory than finishing second in the Championship. It's still nice if you come away with second.”
Button went on to mention, “For me I am happy with what we have achieved this year in getting the most out of the car. Japan stands out as a great race, but also other races I have not been able to win, so I take more comfort from the results, not about
beating my team-mate over a whole season.”
The 31-year-old driver further added that the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix win was a great achievement for him and that he is satisfied with what he has attained in the ongoing season so far.
Apart from that, Button is aiming to end the season with his decent results. He is looking forward to a successful upcoming Brazil Grand Prix, which will be held on Sunday, November 27 at Interlagos.
In the 2011 Abu Dhabi race weekend, he started the Grand Prix from the third position on the opening grid and after trying his best, he came at the last step of the podium with a gap of 25.8 seconds from his teammate Lewis Hamilton, who was the winner of
the race.
Button is at the second place in the drivers’ standings with 255 points after completing 18 rounds of the season so far.
Let’s see how the team McLaren driver Button performs at Interlagos this weekend.
