McLaren’s Jenson Button admits Sebastian Vettel was unbeatable at Singapore GP – Formula 1
McLaren-Mercedes driver Jenson Button has lauded Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel and said that he was unbeatable at the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix.
Button was successful in securing a second position at the 2011 Singapore Grand held this Sunday, September 25, 2011 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
The 2009 Formula 1 champion, Button the night race third on the grid and had a lot of difficulties in coping up with Sebastian Vettel’s furious driving. Nonetheless, the Brit managed to secure a second place at the podium with a gap of just 1.7 seconds behind
the defending champion, Hamilton.
It was a flawless and an unbelievably spectacular race by Vettel who dominated almost every lap of the race leaving little room for the rest of the drivers to catch up on.
He was very fast during the race and the other drivers found it really hard to beat him.
Button, however lad a close chase with him in the last few laps of the race and tried his best to clinch his 2nd place at the podium.
He said, “It was the best we could have done today and I feel that I got everything out of the car, especially towards the end of the race when I was able to push on the tyres and really feel what the car had.”
Other teams like Sauber and Williams had to face some really disappointing moments during the race.
Button added, “I can understand that it's difficult to move over, and most people were fighting here, but they've got to respect that the cars that are lapping them are doing so for a reason; because they're quicker than them and fighting hard for position.”
Although Button still feels McLaren could have done better than this during the race, and perhaps they could now use the lessons they have learnt at this race to improve upon their pace for the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka which is scheduled for
October 9, 2011.
