McLaren’s Jenson Button fastest in FP1 of 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button finished the Friday Practice session 1 of the 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the top place for the team in morning after running at the Yas Marina Circuit.
All the teams participated in the morning session at the Abu Dhabi racetrack and the drivers used the sets of medium and soft tyres by Pirelli during their practice runs.
The Woking-based outfit driver Button set the fastest time of 1 minute 40.263 seconds in FP1 after using the soft and medium compounds at the Yas Marina Circuit.
He was closely followed by Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber, who set the second fastest time with a gap of 0.126 seconds behind Button in FP1.
Button’s teammate took a positive start to the 2011 Abu Dhabi race weekend, as he finished the morning session at the third place for the team after trying his best.
The 2011 champion Sebastian Vettel was unable to complete his FP1 in the top three positions and after running in his RB7 car, he ended up in the fourth spot.
Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa slots in the fifth and sixth places respectively in the end of the Friday Free Practice session 1 of the Abu Dhabi race weekend.
After a successful race weekend in India, Force India driver Adrian Sutil took a good start by finishing his FP1 at the seventh place for the team.
Mercedes GP’s Nico Rosberg put his team at the eighth place in the end of the morning session, while his teammate Michael Schumacher finished his run at the 15th position.
Paul di Resta of Force India took ninth position in FP1 after using the sets of medium and soft tyres.
On the tenth place was Jaime Alguersuari of Toro Rosso driver, who had a gap of 2.114 seconds behind Button and after trying his best he ended up ahead of his team’s test driver Jean-Eric Vergne.
Williams’ driver Rubens Barrichello did not set any time and completed only 3 laps in FP1 of the Abu Dhabi race weekend.
Let’s see how the teams manage the FP2 at the Yas Marina Circuit, which will be held in afternoon, on November 11 in Abu Dhabi.
