McLaren’s Jenson Button sure rest of 2011 F1 campaign will be very interesting for fans – Formula 1
McLaren driver Jenson Button is sure that the last six races of the 2011 Formula 1 season will be very interesting for the fans.
Button said that he believes there is plenty of excitement for Formula 1 viewers in the rest of the 2011 campaign, as the main rivals are very competitive at the moment.
The Brit added that despite knowing the fact that Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel needs only one more victory in order to secure the 2011 championship, McLaren still want to win every next race of the season in order to challenge this year’s title.
Button commented, “We've known that for a little while, but as drivers you want a bit of hope. It won't change anything though. We're still going to have amazing racing, like it has been in the last few races. Whatever we do, because we are racers, competitive,
be it driving in F1, karting or triathlons, you want to win.”
He added, “The emotion when you cross the line to win a grand prix is...it's very different to winning a world championship. You build up to win a world championship, whereas a race is just there.”
The 31-year-old driver further said that he is sure there will be a lot of great racing for fans over the remainder of the ongoing season.
The Woking-based outfit driver had a good stint in the recently held Italian Grand Prix, where he finished his race at the second position.
After finishing the Free Practice sessions on the grid in a decent manner, Button successfully secured a third place for the Italian Grand Prix in the qualifying round at the Monza racetrack.
After starting from the third position on the opening grid, the McLaren driver struggled with his MP4-26 car and ended up behind Vettel, who was the winner of the Italian Grand Prix.
Button is sitting at the third position with 167 points behind Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso in the 2011 drivers’ championship at the moment.
Let’s see how Button performs in the last six races of the 2011 F1 season following his second position in Italy.
