McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton: I want to maintain momentum at the Hungarian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he wants to maintain the winning momentum from the German Grand Prix into the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at the Hungaroring circuit.
Hamilton discussed with the media that Hungaroring is a twisty and tight race circuit. However, he said that there will be a completely different challenge over there among the strong rivals.
Talking to reporters, the Brit said, “The weather conditions will be much hotter than they were at the 'Ring and the nature of the circuit will be very different too. The Hungaroring is a tight and twisty racetrack, not dissimilar to Monaco in terms of downforce
levels, and it offers no let up for the drivers.”
The 26-year-old driver also talked about the Nürburgring race weekend and added that there was a small difference among Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull’s lap times in the German Grand Prix, so it will be interesting to see which team holds the advantage in
the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix.
The team driver finished his second race victory in the 2011 Formula 1 season in Germany recently. He is at the third place with 134 points in the 2011 Formula 1 drivers’ championship. There is still a gap of 82 points between him and Red Bull’s Sebastian
Vettel in the championship battle.
On the other hand, McLaren principal Martin Whitmarsh mentioned that Hamilton did a great job in the German Grand Prix and that they are hoping for more race victories from him in the remainder of the ongoing season.
Whitmarsh said, “Lewis proved at the Nurburgring that he's at the top of his game at the moment. He was perfect in qualifying and perfect again in the race, and when he's in that kind of form he's very difficult to beat. As for Jenson [Button], he's had
some bad luck in the last couple of races.”
After achieving a race victory in Nürburgring, Hamilton is looking forward to the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix. Let’s see how he manages his race over there.
