McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton: I was just able to drive clearly in 2011 Abu Dhabi race – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he was just able to drive clearly for his team throughout the 2011 Abu Dhabi race weekend, held at the Yas Marina Circuit, on November 13.
He added that this is so uplifting, to be able to walk away with happy feeling after a true success and that the victory is good for his soul.
The Brit won the race for the third time in the 2011 Formula 1 season so far at Abu Dhabi racetrack.
After a difficult season due to a lot of mistakes and penalties, Hamilton came back to his winning ways in the recently held Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
After taking a very strong start to the race weekend, the Woking-based outfit driver managed his race win after running at the Yas Marina Circuit.
He talked to the media and commented, “I'm usually my own biggest critic, but I felt like I maximised everything. I definitely think that this weekend I've been clearer in my mind and I've had less weighing on me, less thoughts and issues or whatever problems
that I've got.”
The 2008 world champion went on to mention, “I think my qualifying has always been generally good and my practice has always been pretty good but obviously in the last race I had that mistake which was... I was just not thinking straight and this weekend
I was able to think straight.”
He stated that it is too early to say that they will take a strong start to the 2012 F1 season, but after his win in Abu Dhabi, he hopes they can start the next season in a decent manner.
His teammate Jenson Button was also competitive throughout the Abu Dhabi race weekend, as he finished the Grand Prix on the podium for McLaren.
After starting the race third position on the opening grid, the Brit finished the race at the same position after running on the sets of soft and medium tyres.
The team McLaren is sitting at the second place ahead of Ferrari with 482 points in the 2011 constructors’ championship at the moment.
Let’s see how both of them perform in the last round of the 2011 Formula 1 season scheduled to take place in Brazil in the last week of November.
