McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton back to winning ways in 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton is back to his winning ways in the 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix held on Sunday, November 13 at the Yas Marina Circuit.
After taking a strong start to the 2011 Abu Dhabi race weekend, Hamilton dominated the Grand Prix among all drivers.
All the teams participated in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix following the Free Practice sessions and qualifying round at the Yas Marina Circuit. The drivers used the sets of soft and medium compounds by Pirelli throughout the race weekend.
The Woking-based outfit driver Hamilton started the race from the second position on the opening grid and after battling it out with his rivals, he won the Abu Dhabi GP.
He was closely followed by Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, who was not so good at the start of the weekend, but he made good progress on the raceday. Alonso came at the second position with a gap of 8.4 seconds behind Hamilton in the final race classifications.
McLaren’s Jenson Button finished his Abu Dhabi race on the last step of the podium with a gap of 25.8 seconds from Hamilton.
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber slotted in the fourth position in the end of the race, while his teammate Sebastian Vettel retired from the Grand Prix in the first lap at turn 2 due to a flat tyre.
Felipe Massa of Ferrari took fifth position for his team in Abu Dhabi after running on the sets of soft and medium compounds.
Mercedes GP drivers Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher were slotted in the sixth and seventh places respectively at the end of the Grand Prix. Both of the drivers tried their best to finish the run at the best possible positions for the Petronas-sponsored
team throughout the race.
Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta of Force India team had a good time on the grid throughout the 2011 Abu Dhabi race weekend. They ended up in the eighth and ninth places respectively after running at the Yas Marina Circuit.
Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi successfully finished the race in the top ten positions. After trying his best, he finished the race at the 10th position ahead of his teammate Sergio Perez.
Daniel Ricciardo, Sebastien Buemi, Jerome d’Ambrosio and Vettel could not stay at the racetrack until the end of the Grand Prix, as they retired from the race.
Let’s see what happens in the last round of the 2011 Formula 1 season scheduled to take place in Brazil in about two weeks’ time.
