McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton drives MP4-23 in Bangalore – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton enthralled the Indian Formula 1 fans in Bangalore when on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, he drove his 2008 world championship-winning MP4-23 in the country.
The 2011 Indian Grand Prix has already been a source of much hype as it is going to be the first race ever that will be staged on the Indian soil. People of the Subcontinent region are already eagerly waiting for this race to happen with all kinds of pre-race
promotional activities and publicity stints going on at the moment.
The British driver from McLaren was overwhelmed to see the huge gathering of people that had come to witness the magic of a Formula 1 car on their streets, ahead of the Indian Grand Prix which is due to take place in October 2011.
Vodafone – the official sponsor of McLaren’s team had organised this event by setting up a miniature circuit that comprised of a grandstand and a pit stop as well.
More than 40,000 Formula fans had come to witness this spectacular event. For the Indians, this was an entirely new experience.
Hamilton thoroughly enjoyed his experience of driving amidst the overly enthusiastic crowd and was very happy with the positive response that he received from Indian public.
“It's incredible,” said Hamilton. “I've visited India many times over the last couple of years and it's never been more exciting to be here than now.”
Hamilton further said, “There's no better way to experience F1 than up close, so I think today's event was a huge success.”
For the Indians, getting to watch a Formula 1 race live is an opportunity that they have been long waiting for.
The Force India team is really excited about this race as it will be a sort of a home event for them since their owner Vijay Mallya belongs to the country.
The inaugural 2011 Indian Grand Prix will be taking place on October 30 at the Buddh International Circuit in Uttar Pradesh area.
