McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton eyes win in Turkish Grand Prix – Formula 1
Recent reports have revealed that McLaren’s Formula 1 driver, Lewis Hamilton, has said that after great success in China, the team needs a Turkish Grand Prix win because they are looking forward to winning this year’s title.
Former 2008 Champion, Hamilton also mentioned that his team is still busy working on its car and trying to match Red Bull Racing team in the up-coming races for this season. He went on to add, "Don't get me wrong; what we've done has been incredible. But
we need to go into the Turkish Grand Prix with more upgrades and improvements if we're to continue fighting at the front, and we know that other teams won't be standing still either.”
He further added, "To have turned the car around and made it a winner, we've never done something that big in such a short space of time. I take my hat off to everybody back at the MTC (McLaren Technology Centre) once again. They've performed miracles, but
we can't sit still.”
After the China race, the McLaren team described Lewis Hamilton’s run in the race as “magnificent”, as he put his superb performance to end Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel’s outings of victories at the Shanghai circuit.
At the end of race, the McLaren team celebrated with a greatly deserved high shower of Champagne and expressed his pleasure before the viewers as well. Hamilton finished his fastest run of the race, ahead of Australia and Malaysia race winner, Vettel. He
put an all out efforts in the race, especially during the last laps of the course and ended his run with twenty-five supportive points for the team. The Briton was especially happy, since he recovered from his Malaysia performance in Shanghai.
The team principal added that the team was pushing to improve their performance in the next race and that the car responded well to both drivers. Jenson Button was able to finish with the fourth fastest time of the race, with 12 supportive points for McLaren.
The Chinese Grand Prix results have given the McLaren duo more motivation for the remainder of the season. The Turkey race will take place on May 8, 2011 in Istanbul Park.
