McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton says Spa-Francorchamps is one of the greatest circuits in the world
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that Spa-Francorchamps is one of the greatest circuits in the world.
Hamilton added that he is sure all the drivers are looking forward to the Belgium Grand Prix after coming back from the one-month break.
The team driver told the media that he has very amazing feelings for the 2011 Belgium Grand Prix at the moment, as he is going to race on one of his favourite tracks. In addition, he stated that he is looking forward to his first flying lap on Friday morning
Practice session, which will be held on August 26, 2011 at the Spa circuit.
Talking to reporters, the Brit said, “Corners like Eau Rouge, Pouhon and Blanchimont are fantastic, just because they’re so fast – Pouhon, in particular, is incredible, because you’re really at the limit of the grip level, and you’re gently playing with
the throttle and trying not to scrub off too much speed with the steering.”
The 26-year-old driver added that after winning two consecutive grands prix in the 2011 Formula 1 season, McLaren must focus on another achievement in the Belgian Grand Prix next weekend. He further stated that the last two race results encouraged them a
lot for the final eight rounds of the ongoing season.
Apart from that, Hamilton discussed with the media that the team worked on their MP4-26 car during the summer holidays. However, he added that they are hopeful for their better performance in the remainder of the season.
Hamilton went on to mention, “Of course, the weekend is likely to be affected by the weather, which is always somewhat unpredictable at Spa. I’d prefer a dry race, but, to be honest, I’ll take any track condition: I just can’t wait to get back out in my
car!”
In the 2011 Hungarian race weekend, Hamilton was at the fourth place with a gap of 48.3 seconds from his teammate Jenson Button, who was the race winner.
After a successful Hungarian Grand Prix, Hamilton is looking forward to a positive race weekend in Belgium.
