McLaren’s MP4-27 was the quickest car of 2012 – Formula 1 news
McLaren’s MP4-27 was the quickest car of the 2012 Formula 1 season which remained consistently faster than Red Bull Racing’s RB8 and Ferrari’s F2012, according to Speed Week.
The Woking based team was undoubtedly one of the strongest contenders in this year’s championship fight. Moreover, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button performed convincingly well for their team during the season.
However, both the British drivers faced some reliability issues in their cars because of which they failed to score competitive points in most of the races and their hopes to win the championship title faded.
On the other hand, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull performed tremendously well throughout the season and had the most competitive car during the last few races with which he successfully won his third consecutive world championship title.
Furthermore, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari also performed with admirable consistency and fought for the title until the end of the season. The best thing about the Spaniard was that he performed well, even with the incompetent car as compared to his main rivals.
“It means Fernando Alonso almost became champion with the fourth fastest car,” the report read.
McLaren sporting director, Sam Michael has said that they need to work very hard in order to come up with a more reliable and quicker car in the next season so as to compete with their main opponents.
“We have to make the normal gains over a winter and Red Bull and Ferrari will be flat out doing that, as will the other teams trying to catch up — Lotus and Mercedes,” McLaren’s sporting director Sam Michael is quoted by the Sun.
Besides, he said that they are positively looking forward to improve their development process in the next season to claim the world championship title.
“But we’re pretty confident we can do the right things over the winter and start off strong. We’re going to Melbourne to win,” he insisted.
The competition has been very tough in this season and is expected to be even tougher in the next year. Let’s see whether the British squad will be able to achieve their goal of winning the title or not.
