McLaren’s driver Lewis Hamilton says he loves to take risks – Formula 1 news
McLaren’s driver, Lewis Hamilton is willing to take risks that come his way as he believes that success can only be achieved in Formula 1 if one is a risk taker.
While speaking to Reuters, Hamilton said, “I think just generally in motor racing there is a fine line between being very dangerous and putting other people's lives at risk and then being just beneath the danger zone.”
Hamilton has received criticism from many corners on his aggressive and dangerous style of racing.
He has been the centre of a lot of controversies earlier this season when he put drivers in danger at racetracks due to his pro-risk approach.
Earlier at Monaco in the Canadian Grand Prix, he put his own teammate in a dangerous situation when a heavy collision took place and later on during the season, he was given four drive-through penalties and two reprimands.
He added, "In Monaco for example, I think okay. You just step back a little bit, but not completely change my approach because this is my life and this is how I do it."
The 26-year-old Brit believes that drivers who take more risks end up getting more successful too. For him being risky does not mean putting others life at stake.
He added, "I think being slightly more risky in some ways is what separates the faster drivers from maybe the not-so-fast drivers."
Not many drivers have been able to gain the kind of success that this young driver from Britain has been to achieve in just five years.
He is still young and has a lot of passion and drive to succeed. Hamilton has won only one championship so far and obviously wants to add more feathers to his cap. He has no plans of getting married anytime soon as he said, "I didn't want to risk much more because I wanted to make sure that I was there the next day to see my kid. So he was willing to risk less and maybe that's natural."
Hamilton currently stands at 5th position in the 2011 drivers' championship with 168 points to his credit from the 13 races that have taken place in the ongoing season.
