McLaren’s faith strengthened with latest upgrades for Suzuka
McLaren is willing to do all it can to reduce its gap from the charts’ topper, Red Bull. Now, as they move ahead for the sixteenth race of the season they have brought further upgrades in their car, for which they are much hopeful
now.
The Japanese Grand Prix is going to be a real tough and crucial round. The top three teams, Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren are preparing to indulge in a brutal battle, ready to backlash anyone who comes in their way for the title.
The last two rounds of the season were very crucial for the title decision but the British team fell short of luck. At Monza, Sebastian Vettel was able to do good as he ended at 2nd place but Lewis Hamilton poorly retired
from the race losing his top position of the Drivers’ Championship to Red Bull’s Mark Webber. In the following race at Marina Bay, once again Hamilton was shadowed by dark clouds as he packed another pointless race. This time Button also finished behind his
title rivals, as Fernando Alonso and Vettel outpaced him in their faster Ferrari and Red Bull cars.
However, the team hopes to gain pace this time in Suzuka as they have come up with latest upgrades, and also because the Suzuka track is expected to suit them better.
The managing director of McLaren, Jonathan Neale seemed very positive as he said that the team has overcome its major problems and they are just waiting for an improved weekend ahead.
While talking to the Formula One official website he said, "So from that respect we will be pushing very hard. If it means we have to pull the modifications one race forwards and we've only got limited components, I'd rather have
a fraction of a second lap time than wait until we've got a comfortable set of spares and bits and pieces. We are running on a very lean edge of what we've got."
He further exposed a number of areas where the team is working to get better results this Sunday at the Japanese Grand Prix. The team hopes to evaluate the new package at the Friday practice.
Neale went on telling, that they have a very reasonable sized package for Suzuka. He disclosed the details saying, "We've got a front wing upgrade, we've got a new rear wing and there are some aerodynamic details. I think what
we've got is a big test package for Friday and after that we will be in a position to say what we are actually going to run in anger. Certainly we're taking everything we had in Singapore and some more to Japan."
He is still adamant that the team will be fighting till the very end of the season and he still thinks that victory is not very far away from the team. He agreed to the fact that the gap has widened now, yet he believes that the
title is within the reach.
However, the fact could not be denied that still the championship is very unpredictable. At the moment while McLaren believes that they have improved their pace, Red Bull and Ferrari also seem equally confident.
Ferrari has a great history at the Suzuka Track while its driver Alonso has already bagged two world Championships which makes their probability quite high.
On the other hand, Red Bull currently leads both the Drivers’ as well as the Constructors’ Charts which makes the team very hopeful. Moreover, they have portrayed time and again that they possess the fastest car of the season.
Four more brutal arenas yet to visit, three equally competent teams and five determined drivers... what a sizzling season!!!!
