McLarens top the first practice session at the Hungarian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton tops FP1 at Hungary.
He was able to set the fastest time of the first free practice session of the Budapest GP. The result shows the pace of the McLaren car that was on display at the German Grand Prix as well but due to an unfortunate tyre puncture earlier in the race the Brit
was not able to show the results with the kind of pace he had.
Hamilton’s teammate Jenson Button however went on to take the second place in the race. Button was also second fastest at the practice run today.
The third fastest time of the day was from the leader of the season and also the winner of the German Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard has been brilliant throughout the season and is the only driver to have secured three wins in the season.
At fourth in the McLaren is Nico Rosberg, at fifth is Romain Grosjean splitting the two Mercedes as at sixth is Michael Schumacher.
Felipe Massa gave the seventh fastest time of the day. The Brazilian has been struggling throughout the season the last couple of races have been good for the Ferrari driver but like most Grands Prix this season the weekend at Budapest has not started the
way he wanted to start it as.
At eighth is Kimi Raikkonen, who has been ruing poor qualifying as the reason behind not being able to secure a win yet in the season. The Finn will be looking to do well in over the weekend at Budapest to get the best results out of the race.
Valtteri Bottas did well to finish in the top 10 as he recorded the 9th best time of the day ahead of the Mexican Sergio Perez in the Sauber.
The major omissions in the top ten times have been Mark Webber at 13th and Sebastian Vettel at 15th. It will be interesting to see how the weekend unfolds as the it progresses towards the race day.
