McLaughlin uncertain over It’s Tricky future plans, while Albertrani points Zo Impressive to the Mother Goose next
Godolphin Racing’s 4-year-old filly, It’s Tricky showed how ultra consistent she is, when she snapped Awesome Maria’s six race winning streak to build her own 3 race win streak when she posted her hat-trick in the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps Handicap at about 1 1/16 mile over the Belmont Park’s dirt track on 28 May, 2012.
Kiaran P. McLaughlin trained It’s Tricky came out of the race in fine order, but her trainer is reluctant to pinpoint a race ahead of her rest of the campaign, but right now the filly deserves rest in her stall after a hard fought victory over Cash for Clunkers.
In the Ogden Phipps Handicap, She’s All In and Awesome Maria were expected to do well in the race, despite It's Tricky’s unbeaten run in the 2012 season with the two grade 2 victories at Aqueduct racetrack.
She’s All In was in good form before Ogden Phipps Handicap, and well, Awesome Maria hadn’t lost a single race over the course of two seasons that made things difficult to bet against her, but It’s Tricky showed that she in her 4-year-old season means business, and after her brilliant run at Belmont Park McLaughlin will have to map out her future starts carefully en route to her ultimate goal, Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile at Santa Anita Park this fall.
“She’s great,” said trainer Kiaran McLaughlin. “We don’t know what we’re going to do next with her, though.”
Second to Contested in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes, Zo Impressive, trained by Thomas Albertrani for Live Oak Plantation, must be frustrated with the filly, because of throwing away races especially after being in winning positions.
The Kentucky bred daughter of Hard Spun broke her maiden at first asking and then went on to land an allowance/optional claimer over at a mile, where she defeated the In Lingerie in second.
However, threw away the Grade 2 Gulfstream Oaks to Grace Hall in her third career start.
Albertrani is certain that Zo Impressive will start next in the Grade 1 Mother Goose Stakes on 23 June, 2012, with a hope that she will be third time lucky in graded stakes races.
